Why Your Site Should Sound Like You

Brand voice isn't a tab in a style guide. It's the difference between feeling met and feeling marketed to.

Read the homepage of any ten businesses in the same industry and you'll start hearing the same sentences. "Empowering teams to do their best work." "Crafted solutions tailored to your needs." "Where innovation meets execution." It isn't writing. It's filler in the shape of writing.

The fastest way to break the spell is to write the way you actually talk to a customer in the first ten minutes of a meeting. Short sentences. Specific examples. The odd flat statement. A bit of warmth where it earns its place.

Voice isn't decoration — it's the part of your site that makes a stranger feel like they've already met you. Get it right and the rest of the design has less work to do. Get it wrong and no amount of polish will close the gap.
